FPA150 (WEEK 7) - WEED, PEST AND DISEASE CONTROL IN NURSERY

Assalamualaikum and hello everyone!!! Welcome again to my blog💜. Salam UITM dihatiku! My name is Nur 'Ain Syafiqah Binti Mohamad Hirani. I am from Selangor. I studied in Diploma In Planting Industry Management (DPIM) at UiTM Melaka Campus Jasin. By the way, this is a blog about FPA150 Fieldwork II that all DPIM's student will learn during semester 2. Hope that everyone will get useful information from my blog and hope you enjoy it !!!

Every Friday in semester 2, all students part 1 until part 3 from Faculty Of Plantation And Agrotechnology need to get together in the field. In this blog, I want to show our time and activity that we have followed :

6:10 a.m. - 6:30 a.m.
  • Subuh prayers
  • Class representative take attendance for our class B

6:30 a.m. - 7:40 a.m.
  • Line up according to their respective classes from part 1 until part 3
  • Morning exercise
  • Planter's supervisor teach the right way to sing a planter's song.
7:40 a.m. - 9.00 a.m.
  • Moved to Agrotech 
  • Read Al-Kahfi(The first 10 sentences and last 10 sentences), Dua Dhuha, Doa Qunut Nazilah and Dua Rabithah(Recitation)
  • Sing the National Anthem, next is Wawasan Setia Warga UiTM and Planters Song followed by prayer.  
  • Doctor Selva Kumar give a briefing about the activities we should do based on lesson plan but we can't do for this week because the weather is not good. So we just do the circle weeding at lime plot. The activities is about Weed, Pest and Disease Control In Nursery. 
  •  About weed : 
          1) What is weed?
              - A wild plant growing where it is not wanted and in competition with cultivated plants. 
          2) Ways to control weed
               - Biocontrol 
               - Chemical control
               - Cultivation
               - Mulching
               - Plant poison
               - Identify the type of (pest) - 6 leg and have 3 parts.
          3) Make sure when poison the weeds, the soil is not wet. 
          4) The suitable time for poison the weeds is in the morning.
          5) Identify direction of the wind - do not go against the wind, follow the wind.
          6) Choose suitable poison 
               

9:15 a.m. - 10.40 a.m.
  • Moved to the lime plot and Doctor Maizatul tell to us a part to circle weeding.
  • Found a pest.
  • Class dismissed.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
1. Guide before using poison :
    1) Read the label - PHI(Pre-harvest Interval)
    2) Mix the poison using the right amount 
    3) Wear appropriate clothing and cover the body. 
         For example : 
         - Shoes, mask, glove plastic, goggle, a thick apron
