WEEK 9 (8 December 2023)
Assalamualaikum and hello everyone!!! Welcome again to my blog💜. Salam UITM dihatiku! My name is Nur 'Ain Syafiqah Binti Mohamad Hirani. I am from Selangor. I studied in Diploma In Planting Industry Management (DPIM) at UiTM Melaka Campus Jasin. By the way, this is a blog about FPA150 Fieldwork II that all DPIM's student will learn during semester 2. Hope that everyone will get useful information from my blog and hope you enjoy it !!!
Every Friday in semester 2, all students part 1 until part 3 from Faculty Of Plantation And Agrotechnology need to get together in the field. In this blog, I want to show our time and activity that we have followed :
6:10 a.m. - 6:40 a.m.
- Subuh prayers
- Class representative take attendance for our class B
6:40 a.m. - 7:15 a.m.
- Line up according to their respective classes from part 1 until part 3
- Morning exercise
- Planters practice singing a planter's song.
7:15 a.m. - 8.30 a.m.
- Moved to Agrotech
- Read Al-Kahfi(The first 10 sentences and last 10 sentences), Dua Dhuha, Doa Qunut Nazilah and Dua Rabithah(Recitation)
- Sing the National Anthem, next is Wawasan Setia Warga UiTM and Planters Song followed by prayer.
- Planter's talk by student part 1 about soil management.
- Ts. Dr. Zahid give a speech.
- Madam Maryam give a briefing about the activities we should do based on lesson plan which is root pruning.
- About pruning :
1) What is pruning?
- Pruning is the deliberate removal of tree branches and limbs to achieve the specific objective of altering a tree's health and form.
2) Benefit of pruning
- Pruning will help ensure the tree stays healthy by increasing airflow and light penetration.
- Remove dead, damaged, and dying branches will keeps the tree safe and removes hazards to people and structures around the plant.
- Allows to maintain proper clearance for vehicle and pedestrian traffic and lets you control sightlines.
8:30 a.m. - 10.00 a.m.
- Moved to the oil palms plot to do pruning with class A,B,C and D.

10:00 a.m. - 11.00 a.m.
- Rest
11 :00 a.m. - 11.30 a.m.
- Class B and C moved to herbs plot to do circle weeding.
- Dismissed.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
1. Types of pruning :
1) Cleaning - to selective pruning that removes dead, diseased, or broken branches.
2) Thinning - to selective pruning resulting in an even distribution of branches on individual limbs and throughout the crown.
3) Raising - to selective pruning that provides vertical clearance.
4) Reduction - to selective pruning to decrease height and spread.
