FPA200 (WEEK 7) - CIRCLE WEEDING

 WEEK 7 (10 May 2024)

Assalamualaikum and hello everyone!!! Welcome to my blog😊. Salam UITM dihatiku! My name is Nur 'Ain Syafiqah Binti Mohamad Hirani. I am from Selangor. I studied in Diploma In Planting Industry Management (DPIM) at UiTM Melaka Campus Jasin. By the way, this is a blog about FPA200 Fieldwork III that all DPIM's student will learn during semester 3. Hope that everyone will get useful information from my blog and hope you enjoy it !!!

Every Friday in semester 3, all students part 1 until part 3 from Faculty Of Plantation And Agrotechnology need to get together in the field. In this blog, I want to show our time and activity that we have followed :

6:45 a.m. - 8:00 a.m.
  • Gathered in the parking lot in front to the lecture block
  • Our class representative take attendance for class B
  • Line up according to their respective classes from class A until class D
  • Warm up
  • Sing the National Anthem, next is Wawasan Setia Warga UiTM and Planters Song followed by prayer.
  • Supervisor give a speech.
  • Discussion from student part 1, part 2 and part 3.

8:00 a.m. - 8:15 a.m.
  • Moved to Agrotech Plantation site to prepare equipment and tools that we want to use for our activities.

8:15 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.
  • All student from class B moved to the Durian plot.
  • Our activities is doing maintenance in the durian plot area which is circle weeding.
  • Students start doing maintenance followed by row.
10:00 a.m. - 10.30 a.m.
  • Rest

CIRCLE WEEDING

Steps involved in circle weeding :

1. Initialization: Start with a set of data points that approximate the circle or circular shape.

2. Circle Fitting: Use a circle fitting algorithm (such as the least squares method) to find the best-fitting circle for the given set of points. This circle serves as reference for determining which points are essential for preserving the circle's characteristics.

3. Point removal: Iterate through the data points and remove those that lie close to the circumference of the fitted circle. The threshold for "closeness" is determined by factors like the desired level of precision or the specific application requirements.

4. Refinement: After removing points, refine the fitted circle using the remaining points. This step may involve recalculating the circle's parameters (center and radius) based on the updated set of points.

5. Iterative process: Repeat the point removal and refinement steps iteratively until the desired level of simplification is achieved or until convergence is reached.

6. Validation: Validate the resulting simplified circle to ensure that it adequately represents the original shape and meets the accuracy requirements of the application.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

- Durian trees are large, growing to 25-50 metres in height depending on the species.
The leaves are evergreen, elliptic to oblong and 10-18 centimetres long.
The flowers are produced in three to thirty clusters together on large branches and directly       on the trunk with each flower having a calyx (sepals) and five (rarely four or six) petals.
Durian trees have one or two flowering and fruiting periods per year, although the timing           varies depending on the species, cultivars, and localities.
-  A typical durian tree can bear fruit after four or five years.
The durian fruit can hang from any branch, and matures roughly three months after                   pollination.

PLANNING FOR NEXT ACTIVITIES
